About Public Relations and Media Department

The Public Relations and Media Department reports directly to the Secretery General of Kuwait University. It carries the responsibility of introducing the society to all university activities and roles in serving, developing and advancing the community. The Publlic Relations and Media Department represents a link between the university and affiliate parties such as faculty members, researchers, students, employees and technical staff inside the university, as well as external institutions and university in Kuwait and abroad. The Public Relations and Media Department is continuously keeping pace with modern technology in the field of visual, audio, print and electronic media as means to shed the light on the university and its role. 

 

General Objective

The Public Relations and Media Department seeks to highlight the role of Kuwait University as an academic institution that strives to enhance society with its outputs and establish the foundation of higher education in Kuwaiti society by shedding the light on research and academic activities to provide information that enriches the internal and external audiences of society and acquaints them with the latest academic news through various media outlets, in light of the existing competition through the establishment of new competing universities.

 

Responsibilities of the Public Relations and Media Department

  • Keep up with and follow up with the most prestigious universities in relation to what they offer in the field of media with the aim of seizing all opportunities to confirm the role of the university and its contribution to the development of society.
  • Introduce the various activities and services provided by the university and the impact of these activities and services on society and development.
  • Reinforce the university's relationship with various media institutions and raise community awareness of the university's mission, objectives, policies and achievements, and continue dedicating media and advisory efforts and educate students on university fields, activities and events.
  •  Enhance the university's relationship with official and civil bodies, with the aim of gaining their moral and material support, while keeping them informed of the various advisory capabilities of university cadres.
  • Strengthen relations between Kuwait University and education and cultural institutions inside and outside Kuwait.
  • Develop relations based on friendship, understanding and common interest among university employees.
  • Respond to criticism and complaints directed to the university in print and electronic media.
  • Provide Specialized media advice to leaders.
  • Influence public opinion, support community confidence in the university, and build a positive image to its affiliates.
  • Maintain consistent coordination with the university's senior management regarding important decisions and employ them on media platforms in the appropriate manner.
  • Follow up periodically and accurately on information and data related to all university activities and events.
  • Provide press coverage and press publication of all that is related to Kuwait University and introduce its role, goals, and achievements through news, interviews, reports, and press investigations on a daily basis on all local newspapers, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and other media outlets.
  • Provide media coverage (video filming) of events. activities, seminars and conferences held throughout the university's colleges and work centers, prepare video surveys on vital university issues, and prepare video interviews with university students.
  • Electronic publication of events, statements, and announcements of Kuwait University's centers and sectors, which include faculty members, administration and students.
  • Cover various university activities on all levels in terms of photography.
  • Follow up on the preparation of bulletins or brochures and media materials that include information on the objectives of the colleges and deanships, their policies, achievements and future plans.
  • Unify the media message consistent to the university's strategic plan.
  • Issue introductory publication about Kuwait University in Arabic and English and update them periodically.
  • Strengthen relations between Kuwait University and educational and cultural bodies and institutions and arrange mutual visits.
  • Participate in exhibitions and conference held by Kuwait University inside and outside the university.
  • Announce and distribute printed materials prepared by the administration which aims to introduce the university's objectives and activities.
  • Receive visitors and delegations hosted by Kuwait University, organize the visit schedule and accompany guests during their stay in Kuwat.

  • The Public Relations and Media Department in the College of Sharia and Islamic studies.
  • The public relations and Media Department in the College of Graduate Studies.
  • The Public Relations and Media Department in Specialized Deanships.
